In the 2023 spring semester Chad worked with the Bloom MKE to create a mural for the Cherry Street Garden. A lot of the inspiration for the pieces came from what BloomMKE mission, what they are doing for the community. While designing the mural He put in consideration the factor of how BloomMKE drives for education, service they have for the younger generation and how they get them excited about the garden work. Then Chad pairs these with his own art practice, he mentions “in terms of collage and in terms of kind of putting these separate ideas together and making them all cohabitated like, the same space, even though they might have different meanings on the outside.” |

The base of Zara’s mural was to express the idea of root growing while also showing where you are from. She wanted viewers to be able to see from the underground where the root to how the plant was growing. She also has a little girls in her pieces “at the end is growing in this dirt with roots of like her parents and like her community”. And to symbolize the colorful nests and the beauty of community she has some bees, flowers and a rainbow. |
